Volunteer opportunity to provide emotional and practical support to hospice patients and families. Activities include:
- supportive phone calls
- companionship visits
- respite for caregivers
- running errands (pharmacy or grocery store)
Volunteers also provide administrative support at one of our two office locations or in-patient facilities. These roles include:
- data entry and filing
- greeting and directing visitors
- answering phone calls
- organizing medical supplies
There are also a few other specialty roles that require additional training, which include:
- auxiliary chaplaincy
- bereavement assistance (including our KidsPath program for children under 18 years of age)
- tuck-in support calls
- pet therapy
All Hospice of the Piedmont volunteers are screened and background-checked. Volunteers must be age 18-years of age or older and complete a 12-hour training session/orientation.
