Who We Are

Why was Neighborhood's Hands created?

Our co-founders Dr. S.D. Patterson and Tamica Patterson created Neighborhood's Hands after they saw the overwhelming need in Winston-Salem due to COVID-19.

What makes Neighborhood's Hands unique?

Dr. S.D. Patterson, our Executive Director, is a Winston-Salem native and has a unique vision for Neighborhood’s Hands Inc., due to his experience and reputation in the community. In addition, Neighborhood’s Hands will be one of very few minority-owned and operated community outreach centers in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.

Where do we operate?

Neighborhood’s Hands, Inc., is located in East Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our physical location is 1713 North Liberty Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina 27105 and primary contact person is Dr. S.D. Patterson.

What does success look like to us? 

  • To feed at least two hundred families by the end of our first year of operation.
  • To adopt at least one elementary, middle, and high school in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County by the end of 2022.
  • To have a successful adult GED graduation rate by the end of our first year of operation.

What are our objectives?

  • Maintain an ongoing after-school tutoring program for grades (K-5th)
  • Maintain an ongoing mentoring program for grades (6th-12th)
  • Maintain an Outreach Men’s Ministry for the ages of (18 years and older)
  • Maintain an Outreach Women’s Ministry for the ages of (18 years and older)
  • Maintain an ongoing adult GED course
  • Maintain an ongoing Food Pantry, thereby, food will be distributed to needed families on a weekly basis
