Who We Are

Love Community Development Corporation, (LoveCDC) is a 501 (3), non-profit organization.  LoveCDC’s mission is to enrich the lives of the community residents through educational programs and resources which will result in a safe, healthy, wholesome, and sustained community.  Known to many in the community as “Love Center” - an epitome of who we are –  “Love” is truly at the center of all we do!

What We Do

Under the leadership of Pastor Angeline Sumpter, CEO, LoveCDC implements educational and social programs that provide supportive services to Forsyth and surrounding county residents. LoveCDC reaches over 24,000 individuals annually through its food pantry in partnership with 2nd Harvest Food Bank and Food Lion Rescue Program.  Funding from AmeriCorps, the Winston-Salem Foundation, Black Philanthropy Initiative of the Winston-Salem Foundation and donation from Hanes has afforded LoveCDC an opportunity to reach more people during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Some of LoveCDC’s educational workshops include financial literacy education for both teens and adults; entrepreneurship training, job search, resume preparation, on-line employment application submissions, mock interviews, Dress for Success donations; STEM workshops in partnership with Winston-Salem State University; educational workshops for youth on tobacco in partnership with RJ Reynolds; and youth workshops in partnership with Wake Forrest University. LoveCDC has also formerly served as a Job Link site and an AmeriCorps host site agency.

With its most recent AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) implementation with funding from AmeriCorps, formerly known as the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), LoveCDC collaborates with other community service agencies who serve as “Volunteer Stations” for RSVP volunteers to use their skills, talents and experience to assist in providing services to their clients.  RSVP Volunteers focus on services for seniors and older adults with disabilities: companionship - card connections, visitation and phone pals, food pantries and "access to care" drivers.  Its education focus includes virtual reading buddies - mornings and afterschool; in-person reading buddies - morning, during school and after school.
