Join us on November 20th, 8:00 am - 10:30 am, at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health to volunteer for the MCAN Poverty Simulation! As a volunteer, you will play the role of an essential service provider or community resource (mortgage collector, banker, teacher, police officer, and more) that interacts with participants playing the roles of low-income families who are simulating surviving a month in poverty. If you sign up for this opportunity, I will follow up with you to provide you with your specific role, the instructions for your role, and any additional logistical details. One thing to keep in mind about this opportunity is that, even though there are "rules" and guidelines for your role, the purpose of this exercise is for participants to experience the frustration of an imperfect system on such limited resources (so if you "mess up," good!) If you want a visualization of what the Poverty Simulation will look like, check out this video on Crisis Control's website: https://www.crisiscontrol.org/what-we-do/advocacy/poverty-simulations-and-living-on-the-edge.html
