Who We Are

Mujer Valiosa, which means 'Valuable Woman', is an organization rooted in the passionate belief that every Latina possesses an inherent value and purpose. From our beginnings in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, we have committed ourselves to celebrating, nurturing, and amplifying the voices of Latina women, channeling their unique stories and experiences through the profound mediums of literature, entrepreneurship, and education. While our heart remains firmly planted within the vibrant Latino community of Winston-Salem, our vision is global. Leveraging the power of digital platforms and social media, we've expanded our reach to touch lives worldwide. We aim to inspire and empower, to catalyze personal and collective transformation, ensuring that every Latina recognizes and harnesses her potential. At Mujer Valiosa, we don't just see value; we cultivate it, champion it, and celebrate it, ensuring every Latina feels seen, heard, and treasured.

What We Do

At Mujer Valiosa, we embark on a journey that revolves around literature, empowerment, and cultural celebration, ensuring that Latino voices, especially those of women, are not just heard but amplified. The Güipil Latino Book Festival is one of our flagship projects. This year, it was a point of pride for us to take the festival to 7 diverse public schools, planting the seeds of literary appreciation and empowerment amongst the youth. In tandem with the festival, we managed to distribute an impressive 700 copies of the deeply motivational book series titled 'Be Positive: Be Amazing'. Through these concerted efforts, we were privileged to engage with over 2,000 young minds and women, both in our dedicated book clubs and the festival's lively engagements. Entrepreneurship Education Workshops: Recognizing the spirit and potential of Latino business owners, we've rolled out monthly entrepreneurship education workshops conducted exclusively in Spanish. Collaborating closely with local organizations and public libraries, these workshops act as a beacon for Latino business enthusiasts, offering them invaluable insights, guidance, and mentorship. Monthly Book Clubs: Literature is at the heart of what we do. Our monthly book clubs serve as intimate gatherings for literary aficionados, fostering critical discussions, personal connections, and a shared love for the written word. Photograph Exhibitions: In our endeavor to celebrate the rich tapestry of Latino culture, we host periodic photograph exhibitions. These visual feasts not only pay homage to our roots and traditions but also provide a platform for artistic expression and cultural exchange. At Mujer Valiosa, every endeavor, every event, every workshop is a step towards our vision of a world where Latina voices resonate with power, conviction, and grace.
