Who We Are

The Forsyth Sponsoring Committee of the NC IAF (www.nciaf.org/) is working with 30+ leaders to form a multi-racial, non-partisan community organization made up of diverse congregations, nonprofits, and neighborhoods.  This collective will build relationships, develop leaders, and organize for systemic change on key issues of justice in our County.  Similar organizations across the country have won broad improvements in housing, educational equity, healthcare access, environmental justice, and more.  Learn more at: https://bit.ly/Forsyth-IAF-Invitation

The Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) is the oldest and largest network of broad-based, multi-racial organizations with chapters across the U.S. and other countries.  Local organizations are made up of diverse, dues-paying congregations and civic organizations.  Learn more at: https://www.metro-iaf.org/.

What We Do

The Forsyth Sponsoring Committee (FSC) brings diverse institutions together to build and use power, catalyzing systemic change for the common good.  We invite leaders of congregations, nonprofits, neighborhood and tenants’ associations, cultural associations, sports leagues, and other institutions in the civic sector to learn more about this effort.

As a first step, interested leaders should arrange a meeting with the local organizer to share your story and hopes for our community and learn more about the IAF organizing effort.  Then, if you think this effort may align with your mission, we can schedule an information session and conversation with your leadership team to discuss further.

A multi-racial organization affiliated with the IAF will:

  • Build sustained relationships between people of different races, cultures, neighborhoods, and religious and moral traditions,
  • Develop grassroots leaders through community organizing training,
  • Conduct multiple listening sessions that collectively reach thousands of residents,
  • Identify shared interests and develop concrete, winnable issues to work on, and
  • Organize disciplined public actions on these issues to improve quality of life in our community.  IAF organizations have won victories on educational equity, health care, housing, living wages, immigrant rights, environmental justice, and more.
