Who We Are

North Carolina Guardian ad Litem equips community volunteers to serve abused and neglected children by advocating for their best interest in court.  The North Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program operates within the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts.  Our local office in Forsyth County is housed in the Forsyth County Courthouse and is a part of the 31st Judicial District.  Our office consists of a District Administrator, two GAL Supervisors, an Attorney Advocate and a GAL Specialist who recruit, train, and support volunteers working their cases.

What We Do

A Guardian ad Litem Volunteer is a trained community member who is appointed by a district court judge to investigate and determine the needs of abused and neglected children petitioned into the court system.  The GAL Volunteer is paired with an Attorney Advocate to represent the child.  A Guardian ad Litem is the child's voice and promotes their best interest and permanency.
