Volunteer: Family Weekend: Program Pal

Program Pals provide programming which gives our campers the opportunity to try new things and push beyond their comfort zone. Volunteers in this role are assigned to oversee a program area such as Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Boating and Fishing. As a Program Pal you will join a family when your program area is closed so you can continue to experience all of the magic of camp.

You could also work with members of our yearly staff in a couple different areas as well. We offer the opportunity to volunteer in the barn to help out with our adaptive horseback riding and animal adventure programs. Our full-time barn team will give you the training you need to help fulfill your duties such as: leading horses in our arena, sidewalking, handling all our animals (horses, goats, llama, donkeys, cow), and many hands on tasks around the barn. Program Pals provide programming which gives our campers the opportunity to try new things and push beyond their comfort zone. Volunteers in this role are assigned to oversee a program area such as Arts & Crafts, Woodshop, Boating and Fishing. As a Program Pal you will join a family when your program area is closed so you can continue to experience all of the magic of camp.

You could also work with members of our yearly staff in a couple different areas as well. We offer the opportunity to volunteer in the barn to help out with our adaptive horseback riding and animal adventure programs. Our full-time barn team will give you the training you need to help fulfill your duties such as: leading horses in our arena, sidewalking, handling all our animals (horses, goats, llama, donkeys, cow), and many hands on tasks around the barn.     We are about to embark on a fundraising initiative that will also reach throughout the community to engage volunteers to join in our mission.  We have events scheduled throughout the year.  We need someone who loves working with people to work with our team to help organize events, help recruit or encourage volunteers and add to our ministry the joy and empowerment we want to spread throughout our city.  You will want to be present at many of our Wrench workshops as you are able.  It would be helpful if you were connected with much of the cycling network already or you are talented in making these connections.

Facilitate connections with hospital chaplains as well as faith leaders from guests' home communities. Contribute resources and materials to the Family House's chapel for spiritual support. Pray regularly for the prayer requests that are recorded in the prayer journal in the Family House's chapel. Provide a caring presence to people of all faiths and people of no faith.

Spiritual Care Volunteers come to the Family House for 2-hour shifts, 5:00-7:00pm, Sunday-Thursday. The Family House is at its busiest during the evenings, when caregivers and patients are often winding down after spending their days at local hospitals. Any spiritual care needs beyond these evening hours are directed to on-call chaplains at the local hospitals. 

Spiritual Care Volunteers report to the Volunteer & Community Outreach Manager.

Qualifications and Requirements:
