Opportunities From: Love Out Loud

Seeking individuals to  provide yard work for our participants. Other projects could include painting, carpentry or plumbing. We do not do any roof work. Individuals who are interested in outdoor minor home repair will have to undergo a background check and application process. 

Tech Support: Provide one-on-one assistance with cell phones, tablets, computers and Zoom to our participants.

Drive older adults to their medical appointments, errands, grocery shopping or activities using your own vehicle (mileage reimbursed quarterly). You can drive as often as several times a week, or as little as once or twice a month.  You can choose your days, time, length of trips and area of the community where you would like to drive.  All volunteering occurs weekdays between 9 am and 5 pm.

Spend about one hour in the afternoon straightening up our book processing center after volunteers have left.  Load boxes of books onto trailer (using dolly), empty trash, sweep, break down boxes, move/stack boxes of books. 

Requires some lifting.  Volunteer one or more afternoons per week. This is a great opportunity for a Crosby scholar or other high school student looking for some regular volunteer hours.

Many older adults who live independently are unable to get to the grocery store. We are in need of drivers who can take one of our participants grocery shopping twice per month using their own vehicle (mileage is reimbursed quarterly). A shopping trip generally takes 1 1/2 -2 hours. You may be assigned a person who lives in your area; all participants are required to shop at a grocery store close to their home.  In most cases, you will need to help the participant get the groceries in and out of the car. This is a great opportunity to build a relationship with someone new!

Many older adults could use a hand with getting things done around the house. If you can provide small acts of labor for minor home repairs, i.e carpentry, plumbing, electrical, flooring and various type of yard work, then this volunteer activity is for you. Congregational groups, youth groups, business teams, etc. are also welcome to give us a call.

Moving books from the donation pod in our parking lot into the book processing center.  Requires lifting boxes of books and using a dolly.  This needs to be done a few times per week, come regularly or volunteer for a day here and there.

Group project:  The grounds around our building need some TLC!  There are two large areas that need trimming and weed clean up; one faces the street and could also use some beautification.

Help our elderly homeowners by completing yard projects for them such as raking, trimming bushes and clearing brush.   These projects are best for groups of 5-10 people.

We have "pods" of books on our parking lot that need to be emptied onto pallets and shrink wrapped for shipping.  Project requires 6-8 people, heavy lifting, and a 2-day window of rain-free weather.
