Operation Xcel’s mission is to empower and inspire youth by providing safe, supportive, and enriching environments where students can learn, grow, and thrive. Through our after-school programs, we partner with schools to offer meaningful academic and enrichment support to elementary-age students.

Peck Elementary is currently seeking volunteers to assist with our after-school program.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Homework help and tutoring Assisting with enrichments and crafts

Schedule: Monday–Friday 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Volunteer Requirements:

Experience working with elementary-age children Patient, dependable, and supportive All volunteers must complete the volunteer registration process and successfully pass a background check

Volunteer: Event Planner/Coordinator Volunteer

Event Planner Volunteer/Intern

We are looking for energetic and fun-loving individuals to fill in internship/volunteer and part-time requirements for Operation Xcel. The Events Intern will assist in the planning, production, and execution of high-quality internal and external events in collaboration with donors, board members, partners, youth and staff.

Responsibilities:

Manage all project delivery elements within financial and time constraints, including event planning, design and production. Collaborate with clients to identify their needs, understand requirements for each event and ensure customer satisfaction. Book venues and schedule speakers. Research vendors (catering, decorators, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost. Manage event operations (preparing venue, invitations, etc.). - Complete final checks on day of event to ensure everything meets standards. Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems.

 

Requirements:

Proven experience in event planning, event coordinating preferred Outstanding customer service ethic and high quality expectations Advanced communication skills, including writing, proof reading and speaking Ability to manage multiple projects independently Strong problem solving, organizational, project management and planning skills Experience with social media communications, publishing and usability a plus Advanced MS Office skills; Outlook, Word and Excel Some college required

Time Commitment:

Operation Xcel Board of Directors meets once a month on the third Tuesday of the month.

Responsibilities require 1-4 hours of work per week. Board Members are also expected to regularly attend Operation Xcel events. Board members are required to take a Child Protection Training which is conducted online and submit to a national background check.

In addition to gaining experience utilizing marketing and communications skills, implementing a marketing plan, and following a brand guide, general board members benefit from
